The name "Bokunchi" was given by the previous owner, and I loved it so much that we retained it when I took over. We consistently update the facilities, changing layouts, and we recently added a bouldering wall. Our aim is to make this a place where children can have fun, including a secret hideout accessible only to them! The handmade swing serves as an elevator, providing access to the underground secret hideout. Children can play freely without adult supervision, and they get really excited. The girls seem to especially love the swings. Given my background as an automotive engineer with experience in mechanical design, I tend to create small things on my own (laughs).
Our primary clientele is families, and we have many repeat customers. Some return because their children express, "I want to come back again!" To build anticipation for their annual visit, we send letters with updates like "This year we added a bouldering wall!" While families are our main guests, we also have customers who choose rooms based on their preference for the scenery. We offer a room with a panoramic view of the lakeside, providing a delightful experience.
My favorite season is early summer, around June. The climate is pleasant and conducive to enjoyment. It gets pretty busy during the summer vacation season with many guests, but the sense of accomplishment and positive feelings make me enjoy summer too. During colder seasons like autumn and winter, I take walks around Lake Shirakaba when I have more time. It is a nice opportunity for personal time.
Given our family-focused visitors, I recommend child-friendly places like farms. In the vicinity, there is Nagato Farm, Tateshina Farm, and Takayama Family Farm. Takayama Family Farm, in particular, offers numerous activities and events for children, including horseback riding. If you are unsure where to go, a farm is a great choice. Parents can relax while children enjoy playing on their own.
