"HYGGE" means a comfortable space where people can enjoy good times. Whether it is fostering a connection with the outdoors, savoring a self-brewed cup of coffee, or exploring nature through a leisurely walk. While canoeing might not be a common activity in Japan, our aim is to encourage more people to try it casually. While most of our customers are tourists from outside the prefecture, we also hope the locals nearby feel comfortable dropping by for some fun.
Returning to Nagano, I realized the beauty of Lake Shirakaba. I spent three years in Tokyo, where I did not know my neighbors, and every day felt like a repetitive cycle of crowded trains and overtime work... Following a six-month trip to India, I had a profound revelation. In India, the closeness between people was not only physical but also deeply psychological.
Coming back to Nagano, I have come to appreciate the closeness between people and the unhurried pace of life at Lake Shirakaba. Once again, I thought, "This really is a wonderful place" (laughs). "People" are important for my values, and the strong desire to share experiences with others remains a significant factor.
I find joy in watching the sunset over the lake. This environment allows me to recharge my energy and find refreshment.
My favorite season is autumn, particularly the beginning of fall. At HYGGE, you can test ride the Scandinavian e-bike "MATE." Our staff is welcoming and easygoing, creating an inviting atmosphere for first-time visitors. Feel free to drop in anytime!
