Thirty-five years ago, my parents fulfilled their dream by opening a pension, and I grew up here. But after leaving for university and working in the city, I returned with my family three years ago.
Then, we rebranded the "Lake Shirakaba Canoe School," initiated by my father in 2008, as "Yatsugatake Adventures," and inherited both the pension and the activity business.
When my parents envisioned establishing a pension in this area, they witnessed the lively summer atmosphere around Lake Shirakaba transform into a serene autumn tranquility. Spotting a Kaitsuburi by the lake, my mother dreamt of a life balancing hard work during bustling times with relaxation in quieter moments, thus inspiring the name.
In their search for a location to open the pension, they were captivated by Lake Shirakaba, where the lake was right in front of them.
Lake Shirakaba provides an ideal setting for children to enjoy various outdoor activities year-round, from summer canoeing to winter skiing. We decided to return here, recognizing it as a fantastic environment for children to grow up, a sentiment I felt personally.
